ROSEAMUND BURTON
Rosamund BurtonThough born in Ireland Rosamund Burton grew up in England, until her father got a job with the Duke of Devonshire, and the family moved into the East wing of Lismore Castle. Rosamund went on to become an actress, performing at Dublin's Gate and Gaiety Theatres, and in the film, Educating Rita with Julie Walters and Michael Caine. She then worked in London before coming out to Australia 17 years ago. Since 2001 she has worked as a freelance journalist writing for a range of newspapers and magazines in including the Sunday Telegraph, The Australian and The Sydney Morning Herald. She is married to an Australian and lives in Sydney.

Castles, Follies and Four-Leaf CloversAbout seven years ago she was lent a map of St Declan’s Way, an ancient highway and pilgrim route, which stretches 100km from the Rock of Cashel in County Tipperary to the fishing village of Ardmore in County Waterford, and runs through the town of Lismore. In 2008 she walked St Declan’s Way, and her book, Castles, Follies and Four-Leaf Clovers, is about that journey. It describes walking this little known way during Ireland’s wettest summer in 150 years and depicts the fascinating characters and places she encounters along the way. It also touches on Ireland’s rich history, as well as local myths, legends and Celtic traditions.
